Easter
The majority of the world celebrates the Easter holiday, but the interesting part is that there are actually very few people who are actually aware of the happy Easter holiday and what it is all about. It is important to actually understand what you are celebrating for, and so when it comes to Easter, there is a long history behind it that you should be aware of.
The Story
Easter is traditionally a Christian holiday, but there are many other cultures and creeds that celebrate it in one way or another as well. According to Scripture, Jesus came back to life or was raised from the dead, three days after his death on the cross. So as part of the Easter season, the death of Jesus is remembered, and this is the main point of the holiday.
Depending on the religion that you are talking about, there are going to be different traditions and acts that are celebrated over the Easter holiday, but this is the way that it is believed the holiday came about in the first place. Different people celebrate the holiday in different ways however, whether that means that they celebrate on a different day or eat different foods to celebrate the holiday.
The Easter bunny is one of the most significant and popular traditions of Easter. The story here is that children are told that if they are good, on Easter the Easter bunny is going to come to their home and bring them lots of candy. Kids love this and they even go to the mall and other places to get their picture taken with the Easter bunny.
You do have to be careful when it comes to celebrating this holiday, because the dates of Easter change every year and so you have to make sure that you know just what day it falls on each year otherwise you may miss it. It really all depends on where you are and how you celebrate Easter. In Western Christianity the holiday is celebrated on the Sunday immediately following the Paschal full moon, whereas in other religions it is celebrated on the Monday.
